David Klamen (born 1961) is an American artist and professor of art and philosophy. His art has been widely exhibited in the United States and Europe. Klamen, whose paintings "defy the easy analysis promised by their subject matter,"〔ArtNews David Klamen – June 2007 by Lauren Weinberg〕 paints both figuratively and abstractly—sometimes combining the two approaches by incorporating geometric lines or patterns atop his high finished landscapes.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Richard Gray Gallery - David Klamen )〕 Klamen lives in Chicago, Illinois and is represented by Richard Gray Gallery and Mark Moore Gallery in Los Angeles. He is the Chancellor’s Professor at Indiana University Northwest. ==Background and early life== Klamen was born in Dixon, Illinois, United States. He received his B.F.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1983 and his M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1985.
